Speaking on Radio Generation on Monday, Zein said the Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, is preparing to transition from Azimio into a united opposition movement.

Wiper Patriotic Front Head of Presidential Campaign Abubakar Zein has revealed that the party is undergoing a strategic transformation aimed at uniting Kenyans and forming a new opposition front.

Speaking on Radio Generation on Monday, Zein said the Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, is preparing to transition from Azimio into a united opposition movement.

Zein revealed that the Wiper Party, which recently rebranded as the Wiper Patriotic Front, is redefining its political focus while maintaining its signature blue and white colours and the symbolic umbrella logo.

“It is an ambition and an aspiration to work with Kenyans to establish a front that seeks to save our nation. That’s why it’s called the Patriotic Front,” Zein explained, adding that the rebranding is rooted in the historical spirit of unity and liberation that shaped Kenya’s political identity.

Zein said the Patriotic Front represents Wiper’s renewed commitment to transformation and unity, emphasizing that the umbrella, a long-standing symbol of the party, continues to represent protection, inclusion, and resilience.

As Head of the Presidential Campaign, Zein described his role as one focused on ensuring structure, organization, and citizen engagement around Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential campaign.

He said the Wiper Presidential Campaign Secretariat provides an institutional framework to deliver the party’s objectives and mobilize nationwide support.

“The secretariat is a backstopping institutional framework for delivering the objective of transformation of Kenya and to promote the presidential bid by His Excellency Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,” Zein said.

He emphasized that the campaign aims to work with Kenyans to build a stable legislative infrastructure that supports a transformative and effective government, either independently or through alliances with like-minded political parties.

Zein confirmed that Wiper is in a transitional phase of exiting the Azimio coalition, noting that the political reality points to a new coalition in the making.

“Everybody knows that Azimio is in its last legs. If you are already negotiating to set up a new coalition, it means you will have to start the process of vacating the coalition you are in,” he said.

According to Zein, the United Opposition aims to bring together all those dissatisfied with the current regime to champion transformative change and restore hope in the nation.

“Kenya is divided into two, those who support the current regime, who are in a small minority, and the majority who are opposed and want change.

The United Opposition will bring together all those who desire transformative change,” he stated.

He added that the movement transcends politics to include civil society, religious and faith-based organizations, and workers’ groups, forming a broad-based national coalition for change.

Zein listed several political parties already aligned with the United Opposition, including Wiper, Democratic Congress Party (DCP), People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) led by Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Party, and the Democratic Party (DP).

“As far as we are concerned, everybody else who opposes this regime is a potential partner,” he said, adding that talks are ongoing with other leaders, including Senator Okiya Omtatah and other political figures exploring presidential bids.

He also revealed that he serves as the Head of the Technical Team of the joint opposition, working on coordination, policy alignment, and coalition-building efforts among opposition parties.
